11 Ways To Earn Money As A College Student

You finally made it to college, and you’re all set for the coming semester. If you’re open to the idea of juggling your studies and making money on the side, working part-time is a good option. If you want to save time and money while hunting for a job, try going through Gumtree Jobs lists. All you’ve got to do is sit in front of your computer and fill out all the necessary fields.

There are also plenty of other ways to earn while you’re in college and here are some of them:

1. Tutorial Service

If you are an academically-excellent student and someone who truly enjoys teaching, then you can make extra money as a student tutor. It’s lucrative, and you can do it both inside and outside the campus. There are many students who can definitely use some help in catching up with their studies. If doing face to face tutoring isn’t your thing, then you can do online tutoring instead.

2. Teacher’s Assistant

Some college professors and instructors may need extra assistance in doing certain tasks. If you’ve earned the trust of your teachers, you can become an assistant. You could get paid by the hour and enjoy the perks of learning from your mentors.

3. Research Assistant

If you’re an avid researcher and planning to make it a professional career someday, working as a Research Assistant on campus can benefit you a lot. You get to earn some cash while learning and getting trained in the craft of researching.

4. Transcriptionist

Are your listening and typing skills very good? Try signing up for a transcription job. Websites like TranscribeMe and Go Transcript are open for freelance transcriptionists. Work hours are flexible so you can use your spare time to create transcripts from audio and video files.

5. Data Entry

Let’s face it. Not everyone has excellent listening skills, but if you can type 65 to 75 wpm or above, you can apply as a data entry clerk. There could be available posts on campus, but you can also try doing it as an online freelance work.

6. Selling Items Online

Why throw away your old textbooks, old notes, and study guides when you can sell them online at a lower price? You can also sell clothes and used gadgets on e-commerce stores like eBay or Amazon. If you’re creative and you love making handmade stuff, you can start an online store on Etsy.

7. Delivery Partner

Do you know your way around the streets inside and outside the campus? Grab your bike and your phone and be a delivery partner for food delivery apps like UberEats, Yelp, and Deliveroo.

8. Be a Ride-Hailing Driver

If you have a car, you can use it to earn extra income. You can sign up as an Uber or Lyft driver. Just remember that you have to be over 21 years old, have a driver’s license, and car registration documents to get signed up to the service.

9. Food Service Worker

Coffee shops and restaurants are common places where college students meet and also work part-time. You can apply either as a food service crew, kitchen help, or a barista. This job requires a lot of patience, good customer service skills, and the ability to work under pressure.

10. Store Clerk

Store owners are more likely to hire college students as part-time store clerks. They’d expect you to do cashiering work and other usual store duties. You also have to prevent minors from buying liquors and cigarettes. You’ll get paid per hour doing a fairly relaxed job that doesn’t require heavy labor.

11. Errand Runner

If you enjoy doing tasks for other people and you love taking care of kids or pets, you can be an errand runner. You can be a baby sitter, a personal shopper, or a dog walker.

Final Thoughts

There are still a lot more options and ways to earn extra money while you’re still in college. It takes resourcefulness and lots of perseverance to actually pull-off a part-time stint. Enjoy the experience and use your earnings wisely since you’ll never know when you might need them.
